A Real Bug’s Life

As an Assistant Producer and Senior Researcher across a the freshwater and marine episodes I developed and built a plethora of custom filming tanks and life support systems in the UK and Borneo. A personal highlight of this series was building a fully tidal mangrove mudflat set for filming fiddler crabs.

The Secret Lives of Animals

A short but fun stint on this project; I was brought in to aquascape the tank set for the Bluehead Wrasse sequence in the final episode of the series.

Queer Planet

This project was such a welcome change to standard blue-chip. My involvement was minimal but important - I built a couple of medium sized aquariums that the crew used to film Clownfish and Seahorses at a local fish shop.

Tiny World

I was brought onto this project to assist in selecting the right species of coral for aquarium studio shots, that would match the real-world tropical reefs that the film was set in. I helped source the animals and then acclimate them to their homes, aquascape the sets and keep everything in good health throughout shoots in Australia, America and the UK. I also modified some life support systems in the UK & US to better house the animals we were working with.
